Title: The Happy Guy
Gender: Male
Location: Chesterville, ON ![]()
About Me:
My real name is David Leonhardt. A former consumer advocate, I left the glamor of the big city public eye for a quite home in the country to raise my two small daughters. I now run a freelance writer's agency and do website marketing and SEO. More recently, I started David Leonhardt's SEO Marketing Express, a blog where I can heve a little more fun with my observations.
In my “spare” time, I run my hobby business on happiness. It's a business, let's be honest, because it does earn me money. It's a hobby, because quite frankly the time I spend on it earns me much less than if I spent more time on my core business.
It came to me almost by accidnet, like many things in life, stars aligned themselves,a dn it was up to me to choose to pay attention. My wife and I read about 5 traits of highly happy people. We pinned them to the wall and started following them.
Meanwhile, she began studying to finish her degree at night, while I was enjoying Toastmasters and noticing how many people were complaining about little meaningless things like weather, traffic, lineups, etc., instead of enjoying themselves. I decided that I wanted to speak about happiness.
With my wife busy studying, I naturally headed for the sports bar. Oops, no, that was other people. I set out to write Climb Your Stairway to Heaven: the 9 Habits of Maximum Happiness.

Don't get me wrong, happiness is about much more than habits. I don't profess to be able to rain sunshine down on a miserable life. But I do believe that anyone can take my advice to make their lives, on a daily basis, happier than they are now. And the Workbook helps them build a plan.
I was having so much fun, that I decided to create a free daily ezine, A Daily Dose of Happiness. One of my subscribers even did me up this lovely banner:

At one point, I then took some of the best Daily Doses, and turned them into a free ebook: Inspiration & Motivation to Go.
I was planning to update it with a new “best of”, but then I decided instead to do a best-of-the-week happiness blog at MySpace and more recently I began a happiness blog here at Zaadz.
Cut to the chase…I never really enjoyed marketing myself. My book, sure. My services, no problem. But me…not really. Besides, with my young girls, I didn't have the desire to travel far and wide. I preferred to stay close to the nest. A Speaking career was out of the question. Instead I chose to… to… to…(this is where the whole narrative loops back to the beginning). But I also run a liquid vitamin supplements store and a travel directory (not that I want to keep busy, or anything).
