Three Happiness Tips

Posted on Feb 16th, 2007 by Amabaie : The Happy Guy Amabaie

This week, we post a new personal growth tip or inspiration drawn from a recent Daily Dose of Happiness mailing.

This is actually an old Daily Dose, from about three years ago when I was asked on radio what are the biggest barriers to success .  I listed these:

1.  Taking things for granted.
Antidote: active appreciation and expressions of gratitude.

2.  Comparisons.
Antidote: Don't compare yourself to people you think are better/have more than you.

3.  Rising expectations.
Antidote: Expect the worst, but hope for the best.

There is hope.  These are things that can be worked on.  Happiness comes easier to some people than to others, but it can come to all who seek it.

On a related note, have you read my article on the secret of happiness?

Too Much Stuff!

Posted on Feb 23rd, 2007 by Amabaie : The Happy Guy Amabaie

This week, we post a new personal growth tip or inspiration drawn from a recent Daily Dose of Happiness mailing.

Here we go again.  I'll bet you spend way more time concerned with "stuff", like clothing, and knick-knacks, and dishes, and other "stuff" ... way more time than you spend thinking about what's inside.  What's important.  The spiritual side of life.

It's easy to get caught up on the "stuff".  After all, our bodies depend on "stuff".  But we usually take it just a little too far.  Or maybe way too far.

How do you know when it's too far, when the time you focus on stuff takes away from focusing on people - including yourself! - and how they feel and what the believe in and what's really important to them when they are alone with themselves.

I am sure you know exactly what I mean, so take a good look at your agenda and make sure it includes time to really spend with yourself, your feelings and your values.
